A PENSIONER has died in hospital after being struck by a car amid New Year road chaos across Scotland.
The woman, 87, was hit by a black Ford Fiesta at the Drumbrae roundabout and Corstorphine Bank Drive in Edinburgh on Monday, December 30.
Emergency services raced to the scene after the alarm was raised at around 5.45pm.
Paramedics raced the OAP to Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment but sadly she passed away from her injuries on Friday, January 3.
The road was closed for crash investigationwork and re-opened around 1am on Tuesday, 31 December.
Cops have issued a renewed appeal following the woman’s tragic death for help from the public who may have information to support their probe.
Any drivers who might have dashcam footage that could help the investigation to come forward.
Members of the public who were nearby have also been asked to call the investigating officers.
Sergeant Paul Ewing said: “Our thoughts are with the family of the woman who died and they have asked for privacy at what is a very difficult time for them.
“Our enquiries are continuing to establish the full circumstances and we are keen to speak to anyone who can assist who has not already spoken to officers.
“We are asking road users who were in the area at the time to check their dash-cam to see if they have captured anything that could help with our investigation.

It comes as 70-year-old Elizabeth Kennedy was named as the victim of another shocking hit-and-run in Paisley on New Year‘s Eve.
Mercy crews raced to the scene on Barrhead Road, east of the junction with Ladykirk Crescent, in Paisley, but Elizabeth was pronounced dead at the scene.
Cops are investigating the fatal collision in a bid to identify and locate the car which failed to stop.
And a schoolboy is fighting for his life after being found injured on his electric bike in what cops believe was a hit-and-run.
Police say the 15-year-old was found seriously injured on Aurs Drive in Barrhead on New Year’s Day at around 10:55pm after being struck by a car which then fled.
