THREE men have been arrested and charged in connection with an alleged attempted murder in quiet Scots town.
Cops raced to the scene of the alleged disturbance at a property on Wallace Court in Castle Douglas, Dumfries and Galloway, at around 11.30pm on Thursday.
A 38-year-old man was taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary with serious injuries.
Officers last night said three men had been arrested over the disturbance.
PoliceScotland have now confirmed they had been charged in connection with an alleged attempted murderthis morning.
The three men – aged 29, 39 and 49 – are due to appear at Dumfries Sheriff Court on Monday.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Three men have been arrested and charged in connection with an attempted murder in Castle Douglas.
“Officers attended at a property on Wallace Court in the town around 11.30pm on Thursday, 2 January.
“A 38-year-old man was taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary with serious injuries.
“The three men, aged 29, 39 and 49, are due to appear at Dumfries Sheriff Court on Monday, 6 January, 2025.”
It comes as a man appeared in court charged with the murder of another man near a Scots nightclub.
Brandon McLachlan, 21, appeared in the dock accused of murdering Jamie Lucas, 33, in Airdrie town centre in the early hours of Sunday morning.
Mr Lucas was found seriously hurt on Stirling Street shortly before 3am.
It is believed responding police officers performed urgent aid on Jamie before he was placed in an ambulance and raced to hospital in Glasgow, where he died shortly after.
McLachlan, of Airdrie, made no plea as he appeared in the town’s Sheriff Court last week.
