A FOOTIE ace who drove while banned faces the prospect of being tagged if he doesn’t stay out of trouble, a sheriff has warned.
St Mirren ace Jaden Brown was told to keep his nose clean after he admitted driving while disqualified and without insurance.
The Londoner, 25, pleaded guilty to getting behind the wheel while already banned from the roads following a previous offence.
The full-back, who is on loan at the Paisley outfit from Lincoln City, held up his hand at Paisley Sheriff Court for breaching his driving ban at Springfield Quay in July this year.
An anxious-looking Brown initially appeared in the dock before Sheriff Lindsay Kooner without legal representation and was told his case would be recalled later.
That allowed time for solicitor Eamon McGeechan to speak with Brown before he returned to the court and entered guilty pleas to three out of seven charges on his client’s behalf.
The court heard Brown, dressed in a black polo jumper and trousers, had previously been banned for 12 months and was required to pass an extended driving test before he could get back behind the wheel.
He admitted driving in the city centre while disqualified and without insurance on July 11 this year.
He further owned up to the same offence two days later at Abbotsinch Road, Renfrew.
It had been claimed Brown later told two cops on October 4 this year at Napier Street, Johnstone, near Paisley, his name was Dennis Adeniman.
It was alleged he did this in an attempt to pervert the course of justice.
However, the Crown accepted his not guilty plea to that charge as well as claims he drove while disqualified at two other locations.
Sheriff Kooner deferred sentence for background reports and a restriction of liberty order assessment and warned Brown to be of good behaviour.
She warned the footie ace: “Given your previous convictions under the road traffic act and the three charges to which you have pled guilty I will call for background reports.
“It’s extremely important Mr Brown that you comply with the disqualification and the bail conditions that require you to be of good behaviour.”
Brown left the court in a grey tracksuit and a hoodie covering his face before jumping into a taxi. He will be sentenced later in November.
Brown, capped for England at under-19 level, was unveiled at St Mirren in January.
He is a former Tottenham Hotspur starlet who later signed for Huddersfield Town and then Sheffield Wednesday.
He won promotion to the English Championship last season before signing for The Imps ahead of his latest switch to Paisley.
After signing for the Buddies, Brown said: “I’m buzzing. I’ve heard a lot of good things about the team, the manager and the town in general so I’m happy to be here.”
