Cops in Greenock, Inverclyde, were also investigating allegations of human trafficking and serious organised crime.

Officers raided a property and commercial premises on West Blackhall Street.

A man, aged 40, and a 39-year-old woman are due to appear at Greenock Sheriff Court on Friday.

Detective Inspector Nicky Beattie, Greenock CID, said: “We are committed to working with our partners to pursue those involved in criminality, with a strong focus on safeguarding individuals who may be at risk of exploitation.

“Information from people within our communities is key to helping us to identify those involved.

“I would urge anyone with information or concerns about exploitation of any kind, to contact Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”

Last month, a woman was found guilty of human trafficking offences in Dundee.

Mananchaya Wanitthanawet, 40, lured two victims over from her native Thailand.

She then forced them into sex work to pay off £90,000 debts.

The women were coerced into having sex with up to 15 men a day.

Wanitthanawet’s partner and former client Cameron Wilson, 30, was convicted of money laundering ill-gotten gains of almost £150,000.

The brothel madam faces life behind bars over the sordid racket.
