Police had said officers approached an Audi S3 in the course of a patrol and attempted to engage the occupants.

The vehicle was said to have moved off and allegedly struck the officer.

The other officer was uninjured.

“Officers approached the vehicle on Low Waters Road around 1pm on Friday, 30 August in the course of a general patrol.

“The vehicle then made off and was involved in a collision with one of the officers, a 33-year-old man.

“Two men, aged, 30 and 56, have been arrested and charged in connection with the incident and are due to appear before Hamilton Sheriff Court on Wednesday, 4 September, 2024.

“The injured officer remains in hospital for treatment.”
