Emergency crews raced to the scene at around 11am and the youngster was rushed to the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow where he later died.

Police are treating the death as unexplained, but there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.

Teachers from the boy’s school in South Lanarkshire have now paid tribute to the pupil following the “heartbreaking” news of his death.

They added that he “touched the lives of all staff with his humour, joy and curiosity”.

The pupil hasn’t been named at this stage.

A spokesperson for the boy’s school said: “We are deeply shocked and saddened to share the heartbreaking news of the sudden passing of one of our pupils.

“He was a bright and cherished member of our school community. He touched the lives of all staff with his humour, joy and curiosity.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this incredibly difficult time.

“He will be dearly missed and will forever hold a special place in our hearts.”

Staff at Flip Out revealed how long the venue will remain closed following the boy’s tragic death.

They added the venue could remain closed for a week while officers carry out their investigation.

Yesterday, the Flip Out team shared a statement on Facebook, saying they were “profoundly saddened” by the tragic incident.
