FOUR Rangers fans have been issued with indefinite bans by the club following an alleged incident outside Hampden ahead of their Premier Sports Cup clash with St Johnstone on Saturday.

A large group of Light Blues ultras congregated outside the national stadium before the match and trouble broke out between the supporters and cops around an hour prior to kick-off.

PoliceScotland confirmed a 22-year old man has since been arrested and charged after it was suggested a woman, who is a St Johnstone employee, was assaulted and had a drum stolen from her.

The Perth club released a statement in the aftermath of the cup defeat, revealing they were aware of the alleged incident.

Now Rangers have taken action and have banned four fans following the encounter.

A Gers spokesperson told Sky Sports: “Rangers can confirm it has issued indefinite bans to four individuals as enquiries continue following the incident outside Hampden Park on Saturday.

“Rangers has reached out to the St Johnstone employee to check on their wellbeing and to apologise on behalf of the club.

“We abhor and condemn all incidents like this in the strongest terms and continue to support Police Scotland with their ongoing investigation.”

St Johnstone supporters’ liaison officer Beverley Mayer, who was the woman allegedly assaulted during the incident, took to social media today to show her appreciation for Saints fans for all the support she received following the weekend.

She posted on X: “Thank you for all your support and kindness. #humbled”

The post also included a picture containing the caption: “There is more than unites us than divides us.”

Mayer’s son Blair also posted on the social media platform to share an update on her condition.

The post read: “Mum is sore today and shaken up but she’s ok and will be back to her hard-working self in a few days.

“Thank you to everyone for your concern and kind messages, it’s really appreciated.”

Mayer was reportedly knocked to the ground but did not require hospital treatment.
