Pensioner on mobility scooter killed in horror crash with two cars in Scots town

AN ELDERLY man has died after his mobility scooter collided with two cars in a horror crash.

The 88-year-old was involved in a smash with a red Volkswagen Golf and a red Vauxhall Astra in Paisley.

Emergency crews raced to the scene on Gauze Street at the junction with Silk Street in the town.

The alarm was raised at around 8pm last night.

The 88-year-old was rushed to Glasgow‘s Queen Elizabeth University Hospital where he died a short time later.

There were no reports of any other injuries.

Cops closed the road for around seven hours to allow collision investigation work to be carried out.

Officers are appealing for anyone who may have information to get in touch.

Sergeant Robert Mackie said: “Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the man who died at what is a very difficult time.

“Our enquiries are ongoing, and I am appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time and who may have witnessed the crash or who may have information which could assist us to get in touch.

“I am also keen to speak to anyone who may have dash-cam footage which could assist us.”
