A MAN has been arrested in connection with the alleged murder of a man in Lanarkshire.
John Cairns, 24, was found seriously injured at a home in Shiel Gardens in Shotts, Lanarkshire, last Thursday morning.
Cops have confirmed 39-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the alleged incident.
Emergency crews raced to the scene but John was tragically pronounced dead at the scene, sparking a murder probe.
We told how tributes paid to John described him as the “nicest boy about”.
Heartbroken relatives, pals and locals all took to social media to share heartfelt messages as the news broke about the alleged killing.
John was described as a “legend” in one tribute while others said they were “absolutely shattered” by his death.
One tribute read: “Absolutely heartbreaking! Was the nicest boy about.”
Another person said: “Rest in peace pal can’t believe that happened to you!!”
A third wrote: “What a legend – gone too soon! Thinking of all friends & family at this sad time.”
A fourth posted: “Rest in peace John what a cruel world.”
One heartwarming tribute said: “Rest easy wee man, absolutely gutted, I’ll miss you roasting me every weekend with texts and phone calls and voice notes for me to run you here there and everywhere.”
It continued: “So young with your full life still in front of you, I’ll never understand why.”
Officers have been going door-to-door and scouring CCTV footage as enquires ongoing.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “A 39-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the death of a man in Lanarkshire.
“Around 8.20am on Thursday, 9 May, 2024, officers were called to a report of a man being found seriously injured at a property in Shiel Gardens, Shotts.
“Emergency services attended and 24-year-old John Cairns was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Enquiries are ongoing.”
