A SPEEDING teen motorist with just a provisional licence killed three of his pals in a horrific smash that sliced his car in two.

One of Jake Loy’s terrified victims Ian Cannon, 16, posted a Snapchat message shortly before his death saying he was “scared” and branding the 19-year-old a “terrible driver”.

Jake Loy pleaded guilty to a charge of causing the death of the three boys by dangerous driving

Loy was joyriding in his Honda Civic when he ploughed “side on” into the front of another motor, killing Ian and fellow passengers Tyler Johnston and Finlay Johnson, all 16.

Prosecutor Alex Prentice told the High Court in Glasgow yesterday of tragic Ian’s haunting message.

The KC said: “He was saying he was scared bec- ause Jake Loy was swerving all over the place, that he was a terrible driver and he was flooring it.”

Mr Prentice told how Loy, of Moffat, Dumfriesshire, lost control and smashed into an oncoming Honda CR-V being driven by Stephen Jackson.

The dad suffered a fractured kneecap and bruising and remains affected by the March 2022 horror in nearby Cargenbridge.

Loy, who needed hospital treatment, initially told cops he “didn’t know” who had been at the wheel.

He admitted causing the three boys’ deaths by dangerous driving as their emotional families looked on from the public gallery.

The charge also stated that he seriously injured Mr Jackson and two of his passengers. The teenager’s speed remains unknown.

Lord Harrower continued Loy’s bail until sentencing in July.
