Tragedy as woman dies in crash on Scots road & driver rushed to hospital

A WOMAN has died and a man has been rushed to hospital following a tragic crash on a Scots road.

Emergency services rushed to the scene on the A87 near Inverinate, Kyle at around 11.10am on Tuesday February 25.

A 57-year-old woman was tragically pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the vehicle – a 57-year old male – was rushed to Glasgow‘s Queen Elizabeth Universityhospital for treatment.

Police are now appealing for witnesses, with any additional information, or dash-cam footage of the incident.

A Police Scotland statement said: “Police Scotland is appealing for witnesses following a fatal crash on the A87 near Inverinate, Kyle.

“The collision happened around 11.10am on Tuesday, 25 February, 2025 and involved a white Vauxhall Astra.

“The 57-year-old female passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The 57-year-old male driver was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment.

“Her next of kin have been informed.”

Police Sergeant Calum MacAulay of the Road Policing Unit said: “Our inquiries are continuing to understand the full circumstances of what happened.

“Sadly, a female passenger died, and our thoughts are with her family and friends.

“I would ask anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or who may have dash-cam footage, and has not yet spoken to or provided this information to officers, to contact us as soon as possible.

“The road re-opened at 6.30pm same date.

“I want to thank members of the public for their patience while we investigated.

“Anyone with information should call Police Scotland on 101, quoting incident number 1126 of 25 February, 2025.”
