A DESPERATE search has been launched for a missing woman who vanished three days ago from a Scottish island amid a brutal winter freeze.

Claire Halliday, 35, has been reported missing from the Isle of Mull by her concerned family

She was last seen on Tuesday afternoon at around 4pm in the Fionnphort area.

Loved ones contacted the police after they became worried when they hadn’t heard from her since.

The force has now launched an urgent search to find her and has appealed to the public for help.

They are becoming increasingly concerned for her safety– especially since temperatures could drop to a bone-chilling -20C tonight.

Last night the mercury levels dropped to as cold as -14C and forecasters have warned that the freezing weather is set to continue over the coming days.

And there is even a chance that some areas across the north of the country could even have some snow.

We are becoming increasingly concerned for Claire’s welfare and are keen to trace her as soon as possible

Inspector Karen MacLennan

Claire is described as being 5ft 4inches in height, of slight build with shoulder-length brown hair and speaks with an English accent.

She also has a distinctive pink and turquoise eye tattoo on the back of her neck and as well as a butterfly tattoo at the base of her spine.

When she was last seen, she was wearing a white jacket with a cream-coloured hood or hat and white trousers.

Police have also revealed that Clare is believed to be living in a Ford Transit campervan with the registration WN52 AZP.

Officers are urging anyone with any information on his whereabouts to get in touch.

Inspector Karen MacLennan said: “We are becoming increasingly concerned for Claire’s welfare and are keen to trace her as soon as possible.

“We have been carrying out searches in the Fionnphort area of Mull.

“I would appeal to anyone who may have seen Claire or has any has information regarding her whereabouts to contact us.

“I would also appeal directly to Claire herself, if you see this appeal, please let us know you are safe.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting incident 1999 of 9 January, 2025.”
