A MAN has been arrested and charged over an alleged threat made to a Scots airport.
We told how all flights were grounded for several hours at Kirkwall airport in Orkney on Saturday.
Officials said they had received a report of a “threatening communications” at around 10.50am.
Flights were temporarily halted as officers rushed to the airport.
Cops have confirmed they have arrested a 20-year-old man in connection with the alleged incident.
He is due to appear at Dundee Sheriff Court on Monday.
Emergency crews attended the terminal but, following enquiries, cops concluded that there was no evidence to imply any credible threat.
The airport has since fully reopened.
A PoliceScotland spokesperson said: “A 20-year-old man has been arrested and charged following a report of a threatening communication made to Kirkwall Airport around 10.50am on Saturday, January 4.
“He is due to appear at Dundee Sheriff Court on Monday, January 6, 2025.”
