A TRAGIC woman who died in a horror hit-and-run smash on New Year’s Eve has been named.

Elizabeth Kennedy, 70, passed away after she was struck by a white car at around 7pm on Tuesday.

Mercy crews raced to the scene on Barrhead Road, east of the junction with Ladykirk Crescent, in Paisley, but Elizabeth was pronounced dead at the scene.

Cops are investigating the fatal collision in a bid to identify and locate the car which failed to stop.

Detective Inspector Jan MacColl said: “Our thoughts are with Elizabeth’s family, friends and everyone affected by this tragic incident. Officers will continue to support her family as our enquiries progress.

“I would urge anyone who witnessed the crash, or who may have seen a white car in the area around that time, possibly with damage, to come forward.

“We would also ask anyone with dash-cam footage that could assist our investigation to please get in touch.

“Anyone who can help is asked to call 101, quoting incident number 2566 of 31 December.”
