A WOMAN and a four-year-old child are in hospital after a car ploughed into them.
The 34-year-old and youngster were struck by the car as they walked near a Tescosupermarket in Ayr.
The extent of their injuries is not yet known.
Police sealed off the road and appealed for witnesses after a probe into the crash was launched.
A spokesman said: officers were called to reports of a collision involving a vehicle and two pedestrians.
“A four-year-old child and a 34-year-old woman were taken to hospital for treatment.”
The pair were hit as they walked near Ayr Racecourse and a McDonald’s restaurant around 4.40pm on Friday.
