A SCHOOLGIRL has been left fighting for life following a horror crash on the A9 last night.
The 10-year-old was rushed to hospital in Inverness by air ambulance after three-vehicles collided near Dalwhinne.
The crash happened on the A9 three miles north of the junction with the A889[/caption]Emergency crews raced to the scene of the smash which happened three miles north of the junction with the A889.
The crash involved a white Citroen C4 Picasso, a white Renault Trafic van with double ladders on the roof, and a white Toyota Landcruiser.
Two children, who were passengers in the Picasso, sustained serious injuries.
A 10-year-old girl was rushed to Raigmore Hospital by air ambulance.
Her condition has been described as critical but stable.
A 12-year-old girl was also taken to the hospital and released following treatment.
A 48-year-old man, the driver of the van, was arrested in connection with alleged road traffic offences and released pending further enquiries.
The passenger in the van, 38, was also arrested on warrant in connection with an outstanding matter.
The road was closed for crash investigation work and re-opened around 4.30am on Monday, 25 March.
Police are urging for anyone with information to get in touch to help assist with enquiries.
Sergeant Douglas Scott said: “Our enquiries to establish the full circumstances are ongoing and we are asking anyone in the area at the time who saw the vehicles and can assist to get in touch.
